Dr. Nieto is a Mining and Earth-Systems Engineer. Dr. Nieto has been teaching for more than 15 years at Virginia Tech and Penn State University. He has collaborated with the mining industry working in underground and surface mining operations. Dr. Nieto is actively engaged in earth-systems innovation. He has served in different executive roles in the minerals industry, education, and research sector inThe United States, Australia and Mexico.
Dr. Nieto is member of Mexico's National Academy of Engineering, and Qualified Professional (QP) by The Mining & Minerals Society of America. His research focuses on minerals-extractive systems optimization and mineral resources & reserves characterization.
Dr. Nieto has a PhD in Earth Systems Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, a MS in Geostatistics from Ecole Des Mines de Paris (Paris Tech), a MS in Mining Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and a BS in Mining Engineering from Guanajuato University.
