Prof. Antonio Nieto is a Mining and Earth-Systems Engineer. He serves as Professor & JCI Chair in Minerals Resources and Reserves at The University of The Witwatersrand. He has a PhD in Earth Systems Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, a MS in Geostatistics from Ecole Des Mines de Paris (Paris Tech), a MS in Mining Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and a BS in Mining Engineering from Guanajuato University.
He actively collaborates with the mining industry working in underground and surface mining operations. Nieto is also fully engaged in earth-systems innovation. He has served in different executive roles in the minerals industry, education, and research sector in the United States, Australia, Mexico, and South Africa.
Prof. Nieto is member of Mexico's National Academy of Engineering, and Qualified Professional (QP) by The Mining & Minerals Society of America.
